today's another day

Dentdale

A lovely day cycling from Dent to Cowgill and back, with a drink or 2 at The Sportsman's at the other end of the dale.

Dentdale is one of my favourite places, and today she was glorious, bathed in sunshine.

The centre of Dent is a cobbled street with The Sun pub and the George and Dragon Hotel facing each other, 200 yards apart. Perfect.

The church at Cowgill is where navvies and families who died building the Settle to Carlisle Railway are buried. 72 at least.

Only a short ride today and while it looks flattish, up the Dale was twice as long as the return trip, where freewheeling was the norm.

A great weekend away with my son, finished off with a trip to Clapham, and tea at Downham on the way home.
