Across the Water

Rosie and I (Chris) were up and off in good time this morning for the short drive from our overnight stop into central Newcastle for the university open day. We did campus and accommodation tours and then went to the modern languages seminars (Rosie is looking to study German). It was a lovely day and we were impressed with the course, location and accommodation. We had a little walk across the town and over the Tyne Bridge (blipped) then it was back to the car and a drive. We’re staying 45 minutes outside Nottingham tonight as Rosie will join a four day residential course at Nottingham University tomorrow. I will then be joining Annie....

It was a number of trains for me (Annie) this morning, travelling up to just north of Stoke for a narrow boat. We’ve (I’m with my brother and Fred) headed south on The Macclesfield Canal, then turned onto the Trent and Mersey. We’d been intending to do the Cheshire Ring, but it’s closed in some key places. So - plans and route changed, meaning today we got to experience the delight of a 3km tunnel. It took us around 40 mins to get through...
