Fun on the Beach!

B and I went for a walk on the beautiful and un-spoilt Holkham Beach this morning.  For those of you who don’t know it, there are miles of sandy beach, sand dunes and pine woods behind…and that’s it!  The car parking and (the soon to be opened) facilities are a ten-minute walk from the beach and hidden from view, so when you’re on the beach there is this vast feeling of sand, sea, sky and space all around you…just wonderful.

We enjoyed watching some of the dogs racing around on the sand and there were also horse riders exercising their steeds along the water’s edge.  The Household Cavalry bring their horses here for a 3- week holiday every year.  It must be such a treat after being in London to come here and have the freedom to gallop along the beach and in the sea.

My extra is of Sea Lavender, there was a large area of this growing on the mud/sand as we approached the beach.

Just the perfect place to be on a hot, sunny day.  Cars were piling in to park when we left, but it’s such a huge beach I can’t imagine it ever feels crowded, however, we were glad to have got there early.
