Today's the day ……………………….. when appearances are deceptive

This looks like an idyllic sort of a place to go to cool down - on what was another very hot summer's day.  But I'm not so sure.

While Morecambe Bay is the most wonderful place, teeming with birds and other wildlife, it is essentially composed of mud - and some of it is really quite dangerous mud.  The channels of water are ever-changing and when the tide comes in over the vast, flat expanse of the Bay, it does so at an alarming rate.  There are areas where the mud is so saturated with water, that the consistency of it changes to become a liquid itself.  It's almost impossible to free yourself without assistance if you happen to step into these areas of 'sinking sand'.

So, bearing all that in mind, you wouldn't have found me way out there in the bay - despite the fact that it would have been lovely to paddle in some cool water...…………………….
