Surprise flowering

Last year, ie spring 2017, I put this amaryllis outside after it had flowered at Christmas.  It got pretty chewed up by slugs and I never remembered to bring it in for the winter.

Not long ago I tidied it up, fed and watered it and put it in the greenhouse.  Lo and behold!  Flowers!  On a very short sturdy stem, but looking very healthy, and now enjoying the heat in the satsumary!

Helping at the cream teas for the Marengo Community Garden this afternoon.  Buttered, jammed and creamed dozens of scones and bought a rooted cutting of a Black Hamburg grapevine, in the hope that the sort of summer we are having this year might become the norm!
