Snake!

And a few minutes looking through the SUNY ESF guide to NY snakes before deciding I needed to find more photos because it didn't really look like any of them. It turns out the pattern , but not the apparent color( because it was too dark a photo ) was the real key . It's a harmless milk snake. A snake I have never seen before - usually we have garter or black snakes when one shows up. This was on the side of the road in the morning when I was coming back from a walk. An interesting morning.And apologies once again for not getting to everyone's photos this week- it's been busy and hot and tiring.Hope you are all well and I try to catch up!
