You dancin’? You askin’?

Today’s been busy but fun!

We had a great craic at Liverpool Irish Centre with our friends from Irish Community Care and a lovely bunch of folks who’d come along for a bite to eat, a chance to chat, listen to some live music and strut their stuff on the dance-floor.

Between the dancing and the bingo we spoke to lots of them as part of our year-long survey of community wellbeing, stresses and resilience - and the role of the arts and culture in maintaining good mental health. Thanks to everyone who gave us their time!

Then we headed across town, from Everton to Toxteth, for the first session of an 8-week creative writing course for trans people which we’re coordinating in partnership with Writing on the Wall, as part of the same community wellbeing and creativity project described above. I’m sure you’ll be hearing more about the ‘TranScripts’ course over the coming weeks... Thanks to the excellent Marj Morgan for leading the course for us!

One of the songs that got me tapping an enthusiastic toe at the edge of the Irish Centre dance-floor (yes, even with my bad hip!) was Steve Earle’s ‘Galway Girl’ https://youtube.com/watch?v=_7-PM_4aeE4
