Pictorial blethers

Looking at the past ...

No, not the distant past of monks and antiphoners, like yesterday’s expedition, but the relatively recent past of Mr PB’s youth. This view of Brandon Terrace, in Canonmills, Edinburgh, was taken from the former railway line that cross-crosses the city and now allows pedestrians and cyclists access to leafy avenues free from traffic and pollution. Here, I’m looking along the Water of Leith towards the flat where I used to visit with no idea that over 50 years later I’d be looking hopefully for a coffee after a good march up from Newhaven.

We found the great Italian bistro we’d hoped would still be there; we had coffee; we walked back. A good use of a warm afternoon...
