LNER has arrived

I booked with Virgin Rail, but we travelled with London North Eastern Railway. At Darlington Station all the huge red posters had gone, as had the red uniforms. Back in-house, the train was on time, the air-con worked, all was good. Let’s hope it stays out of private hands in the future.

Very hot in London and quiet. Plans changed somewhat and we are at our daughter’s apartment, where three of them are watching and the dog and I are sitting in the cool kitchen reading - well I am anyway. Lots of noise from the other room. I may join them towards the end.

This time last year we arrived in Avignon . . . and the heat. If it was this year, it wouldn’t have been such a surprise as it was then.
