Hawkcraig Point

The ruinous pier at Hawkcraig Point looking towards Inchcolm (waved to DaveH who is working there but I suppose he might get shore leave at the weekend) and beyond that Edinburgh and the Pentlands. . A ferry used to run across to Leith from this pier, which was built in the 1850s. When the railway came to Aberdour in 1890 it put paid to the steamers.

The idea of Aberdour today, apart from a short stroll along the coastal path and the Silver Sands, was lunch at A Room with a View which sits below the cliffs at Hawkcraig. It was very good and I am very full.

Quite breezy today, and especially by the sea,  but still sunny and warm. Just wonderful in fact.
