Balconies

We finished early today so I was able to fit in a visit to the recently restored Lascaris War Rooms - the underground rock-cut chambers beneath the Lascaris Bastion which housed the headquarters of the Allied air and naval forces during the siege and were used as the control centre for Operation Husky, the Allied invasion of Sicily in 1943. Followed that with a meander around some of Valetta's side streets where the traditional enclosed wooden balconies are a prominent feature.
