In the Dingle

Today I had to go to Shrewsbury and while I was there I took a sandwich to eat in The Dingle, the floral oasis in the centre of The Quarry which is the park in the middle of town.

The Dingle was originally created by Percy Thrower who was the town's head gardener and it's a lovely spot to linger.

There were a young couple near me and I heard him telling her that Percy was a flower arranger (he was too young to remember him as the original presenter of Gardener's World).

I shall be watching the World Cup semi-finals tonight so good luck to England!
