We Were In The Posh Seats

The boys and I had a very cultured evening as we had tickets to see Macbeth or should I say “The Scottish Play” (although there were a significant number of Yorkshire accents in that part of Scotland in those times it seems?!). It was at the Rose Theatre, a pop-up replica of the original building in the shadows of Clifford’s Tower in York here for the summer, showing a rotation of Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, Richard III and Midsummer Night’s Dream.

It was a brilliant performance, Yorkshire accents aside, and we all really enjoyed it. We were in the posh seats on the second level around the edges of the theatre, but you could also get cheap ‘groundling’ tickets which were for standing (or bring your own rug to sit on) in front of the stage giving a completely different experience.

We all decided that we enjoyed it so much that we have already bought groundling tickets for Midsummer Night’s Dream next month... we will be taking picnic rugs to sit on and extra jumpers as it was a bit chilly when the sun went down.
