Through the groynes

Spent a lovely day near to Rye in East Sussex.
We began in Rye Harbour and had an early lunch at our favourite gallery and tea rooms, Avocet Gallery. We each had
a huge plate of local Sussex cheeses, home grown salad, artisan bread from Bodiam and onion marmalade. All the cakes are home made and everything is sourced locally. The gallery has a wonderful selection of art and craft from local artists.

It was high tide and walked along the estuary to Winchelsea beach. My blip is looking across to Camber Sands. Camber has miles of golden sand whereas Winchelsea beach is shingle.

We walked as far as Winchelsea and returned by the nature reserve and lakes.

Rye Harbour is one of my favourite places. It is about 2 miles from the mediaeval town of Rye but much quieter and with far less people. In fact during the whole of our beach walk (about 3 miles )we only passed about six people.
