Lakeland Dipper 70

After catching up with B and her husband who were up for the weekend at Strawberry Bank for lunch I went in search of a swim on my way home. Fell Foot was heaving as was Bowness, Windermere and Ambleside. By the time I got to Rydal it was quieter and early evening. I decided to do a recce of the stretch of river between Grasmere and Rydal as our work team are organising a 70/10 challenge event through the lake district in aid of local charities (celebrating the NHS 70 year anniversary and the 10 year anniversary of our team within it) in September. The plan is a 24 hour relay from Brathay, taking in Scafell, Skiddaw and Helvellyn with walkers, canoeists/rowers, cyclists and swimmers from across the team around the county doing various sections as part of a relay.
The swim was lovely but got a bit weedy ... may need to do a bit more checking. I swam past a little known damselfly metropolis (about 30 resting on one lily pad!) and a deer popped by for a drink.
