An Oldie but a Goodie

Not a very pleasant day today - very hot, with a fairly strong north easterly blowing. Just the day to watch out for fires. And sure enough some idiot (for want of a better word that's suitable for a family website) started a fire just up the hill from us. Luckily it was very quickly brought under control. Arsonists are a real danger to the Adelaide Hills and it's very frightening.

Anyway, out into the garden very early this morning because I had a funny feeling it wasn't going to be a good blip day. So I got what were meant to be emergency blips. Which is as well, because nothing else worked out.

Ok - so it's a cabbage white (Pieris rapae) - but having tried to photograph one of these for weeks now, I am aware of how hard to is to get a decent shot. They flitter and flutter around until you are dizzy, and they can move so fast! Anyway you all know that - they are so common and such a pest.

But I thought this one still made a beautiful image, especially set off by the lavender.

Much nicer in large.
