Along Adams Creek

So we decided to pack it all up this morning but we wanted to do one hike before we left. There are several trails that head out near the campground that go up the flank of the mountain and T-into the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT).

We chose #112 up the west fork of the Adams Creek. It's about 3 miles up to the PCT from the TH - what a gorgeous hike and the views were stunning. This photo is about a mile from where the trail meets the PCT. When we got to the junction, we hiked about a half mile north across a very old lava field. The views up to the mountain (extra) and down, out across towards Mt. Rainier were so worth the climb.

If we stopped, the skeeters mobbed us, so we only took a short rest along the lava before hiking back down the trail. About 10 miles today, with about 1500 feet elevation gain. Salem passed out in the car on the way home...
I'm about to do the same.
