Of Doubtful Parentage

This bird walks along the side wall of the Paradise Palms restaurant in Lothian Street, Edinburgh. It does look a bit out of place in juxtaposition with huge black city dustbins and traffic feet away. What it’s ethnicity is, I’m not sure- neither ostrich nor emu. Perhaps it is simply a figment of the artist’s imagination. Whatever, it is a welcome design to combat the vacuous graffiti which adorns every possible upright surface in the near neighbourhood.

We seem to be living in a small island of tranquility while all around us mayhem exists; roads are up not only to lay gigantic pipes to serve the University, but to resurface the nearby main road.. At least we will have at least one pothole free main road entry into the centre of Edinburgh when it is finished. As to the other roads........third world country springs to mind.
