Wet web magic

When we woke up and saw as the locals say, that it was 'thick-a-fog', I headed out to the cemetery in search of bejeweled webs and dewy berries and flowers. There were plenty plus some moose droppings!

This afternoon, in thicker fog, I walked down to the Gates House, the home of the Machiasport Historical Society where I'm proud to say I'm a life member. I chatted with some folks who knew my Great Aunt Abbie and other family members of mine. One of the women on duty today is the granddaughter of Carl B. Flynn, a local  who was the Captain of Howard Hughes motor yacht, The Southern Cross. His uniform is on display. My grandfather's cousin, another local Machiasport native was also a crew member on board the yacht. Hughes knew how to pick the right crew, skilled Mainers. We loved hearing Bert's stories of those days. He saw little of Hughes, but they were always busy rowing starlets like Katherine Hepburn and Ida Lupino aboard. Bert met his future wife when the yacht was moored off Bermuda, she was on a vacation with Smith College classmates and he swept her off her feet in his natty white flannel trousers and navy blue sweater, the uniform of the crew.

For the Record,
This day came in with fog and we're still socked in, now with showers.

All hands horrified by the liar in the white House. That word change story is so weak.
