Stormy Skies

Stormy skies and wild seas meant that today was not for swimming.
I climbed on top of one of the old gun emplacements on the beach which were part of the German wartime defences which formed the Atlantic Wall. (I'm hoping the angular lines of the old concrete structures will fit the theme of lines for wide Wednesday)

The first extra shows the red flag with the sign warning of 'courants & baines'. Along this part of the coast there are often strong undercurrents and hidden troughs underwater which can make bathing hazardous.
The second shows the steps leading up to where the gun was originally mounted. There are no guns there any more, but the ring of rusting mounting bolts is clearly visible.
