"Nature, Red In .... Claw" "Bye Bye Blackbird" :(

I glanced up from my lunch and saw a red kite over the garden. I grabbed the camera, swapped lenses quickly and ran outside. The bird was wheeling and swooping and then I spotted a buzzard in combat with it. I've never seen this before. The two big birds of prey tussled into the distance. I was sorry that the focus was off in my pics with them in the same frame.

I was shocked and saddened when I looked at my so-so images on screen. The red kite has a mature blackbird in its talons. :( I thought red kites fed mostly on carrion. Maybe the buzzard had caught the blackbird and the kite had stolen it?
