I have an urge to paint faces on these flowers to create a crowd of curious creatures (curious about what the heck I am doing)... Can you see it? :-)

This photo was taken at the Center for Urban Horticulture which is at the U of W, near where we walk occasionally (that last picture of 5 great blue herons was taken there). The garden is in full bloom with all kinds of wonderful flowers, including some 6 foot tall artichoke flowers.

I finished reading that book "How to Change Your Mind: What the New Science of Psychedelics Teaches Us About Consciousness, Dying, Addiction, Depression, and Transcendence".  Whoa, that's the longest sub-title I've seen. It was written by Michael Pollan who has written several other very well-know books ("The Omnivore's Dilemma"). 

This book was one of the most interesting things I've read in a long time - history of the use of psychedelics (including how they came up with that name), early research on them, some science of mycology (who knew mushrooms, or mycelium, is/are so amazing!), brain science, the author's accounts of his experience of some of the psychedelics, and current research on using them to treat the things listed in the sub-title, etc.
