I decided to go to Haiti because every logical person to go is going to be unavailable. Then I learned that everyone on my proposal team would be gone that same week and it is an important proposal. 

I practiced my ND filter on a water feature and then played with it and discovered that a long enough filter can indeed make people disappear.
