Everyone came

Woke to rain. Not heavy, but enough to intrude, and raise concern that the water ingress might be happening. After a futile attempt to return to sleep I got up, found some small pools of water, and mounted a protection operation. Whereupon the rain ceased temporarily. I was justified by recurrence of rain throughout the morning.

In one of the non rain intervals I put fresh seed on the bird table. Two or three hours later, it was shoving room only as every sparrow in the vicinity must have arrived. Plus a couple of greenfinch. The sparrows departed quite soon leaving the greenfinch to pick over what was left, before also leaving.

After a mid afternoon shower had stopped, many sparrows returned, until a spotted dove arrived, and it’s sheer size eventually persuaded the sparrows to wait until we come back next weekend.
