Ely gargoyles

Today we had a family visit to Cambridge to visit my nephew who is studying there. In the afternoon we visited Ely Cathedral and I climbed the Octagonal Tower for an excellent view of the Fens. However, back on the ground, these gargoyles were warmly illuminated by the setting sun. I cannot make up my mind whether they are amusing or sinister.

Back in Cambridge we went to the formal evening meal at Pembroke College before heading home.
