Into the trees

It would seem that Bailey slept off the worst of his poorly paw last night. He still has a little bit of a limp but he's not been bothering his paw and he's been very much more himself. He wasn't up for walking far but the heat has played a part in that too. And tonight he has managed not only to get himself upstairs but to jump up onto a bed so I think he's on the mend.

We headed out to the Longshaw Estate this morning once Bailey had been walked. It was very warm before ever it got to midday. Mum and Bailey commandeered a bench in the shade and Dad and I went for a walk on one of the estate trails. Lots of folk were paddling in Burbage Brook as it ran down through Padley Gorge but we headed for the trees for a welcome drop in temperature and some pleasing shapes, with a mix of rocks and tree roots and even a mill stone propped by the side of the path.

We headed back to the bench-sitters and had lunch admiring the view and eventually an ice-cream before heading back. Tea at the Moon Inn tonight and a very satisfactory day all round.
