Stanway Fountain

Boasting the tallest gravity fountain in the world, Stanway gardens is home to this magnificent 300 foot high single jet plume of water. It's the tallest in Britain and the second tallest in Europe after the turbine driven fountain in Lake Geneva.

Built in 2004 it is driven from a 100,000 gallon reservoir, 580 feet above the Canal; the water runs down a 12 inch wide pipe 2 kilometres long through to a 2 inch nozzle. Standing on the bank the sheer power there was awesome and the whole thing a credit to David Bracey the engineer!

Anyone wanting to visit should be aware the house and gardens are only open for 3 months of the year, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons with the fountain only being switched on for 2 half hour sessions.

Great to get out of the office and amazing that it's only 8 miles away and I've never been before. Loved the rainbow too :)
