Life from a City

Harehills

Theme: Dereliction

Ok, so Harehills isn't derelict, but it is very run down. It has always been an immigrant area, a mix of the inbound, downward bound (addicts) and the out of luck. The houses are mostly back to back. It still has industry; but this building used to be grocers shops and bakeries - selling Hovis bread. The shops constantly change, with whatever is current. The building on the far left was once a restaurant - I've eaten in there, and it was good food; focusing on street food.

Harehills is a place where the dereliction is often papered over, not always that well. This is a very solid building base, most are, a testament to the Victorian builders.
