Three Years On

HERE is a picture that I shot nearly three years ago. I called it "Koala Man" in honour of Steve's commitment to the establishment of a koala forest consisting of four species producing eucalyptus leaves most often favoured by feeding and breeding koalas. You can see the size of some trees as they looked back then.

Aaaanyway, here is Steve again three years later, standing in one of the sections of his koala forest ... as it looks today. The trees are a lot bigger are they not? Some of them are indeed large enough to enable harvesting of smaller branches for koalas in rescue centres. In 3-5 more years, parts of the new forest may be mature enough for koalas to fully occupy and move about without having to climb to ground .... but time will tell.

In the extra, Steve is standing next to his largest planting. It's pretty tall but it still needs to fill out some so that it can begin to take the weight of mature animals. Let's hope we can blip the property again in 3-5 years.

There are some characteristics of this main image which really DO benefit from looking at it LARGE, if you have the time.
