For What It's Worth

First up, MDOT*, thank you for the surprise that arrived today.  Although the label does take away a bit of that element of surprise.  But it is a first.  It's a package from NZ that didn't get pounced on by customs here.  And no, I haven't opened it yet.  There is much to be grateful for.

Not the weather though.

The weather continues to be oppressively hot.  Over 29°C in the office when I left. And it had been over 29°C since about 11 this morning.  That's quite uncomfortable.  Apparently it has to get to 35°C in the office before they say "Nope - go home".

I can't imagine trying to work if it went over 30°C.  It's hard enough with 29.5°C.

Oh and I discovered something interesting and simultaneously disquieting.

Wasps (all sorts) are protected species in Hessen.  You kill a wasp without a really good reason**, and you can be liable to a fine of five thousand euros.  Kill a rare wasp - like the Good Tempered Wasp*** and it can cost you up to 50,000 Euros - that's FIFTY thousand.

This is because wasps eat insects that are considered agricultural pests in Hessen.

It does not take into account the fact that wasps give me the heebie-jeebies.

That nest outside my office window is still there though.  I do not want to end being a fugitive for vespicide.
