Memories Of Childhood

On the left is Wolfgang & on the right is Ursula.  They were cousins.  Wolfgang is 8 in this and Ursula would have been around the same age.  Wolfgang was the father of my partner G.

This was taken in 1933.  A certain @rschloch had just been elected Chancellor in Germany, but life hadn't changed too much.

5 years later Ursula & her younger brother escaped to Britain with the Kinder Transport.

They stayed in Britain.  And (much later) Ursula became a huge fan of M&S.  Her brother forgot all his German before the war was over and never relearned it.

Wolfgang and his family stayed in Germany because they believed that nothing bad would happen...

Wolfgang survived the war here.  There are many stories to tell here but I'll concentrate on the positives.

And after the war the Ursula & Wolfgang kept in touch - apparently they just intuitively understood each other.  You know, like they would know when the other was unhappy even though they lived in different countries.

When Wolfgang died in 1999 and Ursula was told about it, she said she already knew, she had felt it.

But all that was in the distant future when this was taken.  The "Now" of this Foto was All Good.

There are so many things that I like about this Foto.

I hope you can see them too.

A million thanks to rxs for his sterling work in bringing this picture alive.  I owe you, Dude.
