Do You Remember The Summer Of 2018?

When they reminisce
they will say summer was this:
parched parks and scorched lawns,
tinderbox forests and moors
ready to burst into flames,
whole days spent on the beach,
a sea warm enough to swim in.

It was that year when bedtime
turned into a moveable feast.
The grown-ups left you to it.
You stayed up
until the sun began to set
and you found yourself transformed
into a summertime silhouette.
