Called to the Bar...

...no, not for a beer (although we did go there later!).

Son #3, not content to have a BA and Masters in history decided to study law, and this evening was his proud moment of being Called to the Bar as a barrister. (No, not a barista, they make coffee!)

You can only become a barrister by being Called to the Bar at one of the four Inns of Court in London; he chose the Inner Temple. The ceremony took place in the very grand Temple Church. This is, of course, only the start of his career: he's planning to do some paralegal work for the next year to get more experience before starting a pupillage at Trinity Chambers in Newcastle.

This photo of him with my Editor was taken later in the Hall of the Inner Temple; the photos I took in the Temple Church itself, during the ceremony, weren't very good.
