Quick Trip to Edinburgh...

Today we had a quick to-and-fro trip to Edinburgh to attend the Chinese Visa Office, so as to complete the application for our visas for the holiday we have planned for September (see my blip from a few days ago, here.) So the Chinese authorities now have digital photos, hard copy photos and a webcam photo of us, along with all our fingerprints and our life history. I was impressed that the staff at the office were all very pleasant and helpful.

In the end we had a bit of time to spare before our appointment at the visa office, so we walked along a bit of the Royal Mile up to the Castle. The Edinburgh Festival is due to start in a week's time, along with the Tattoo, so all the seating is now in place around the Castle Esplanade. I took a photo of that but preferred this fisheye shot looking down the Royal Mile from beneath some of the seating girders. The building on the left, with the white castellated top and a dome above it is the Camera Obscura; the spire on the right adorns St Giles' Cathedral where we stopped for a coffee.
