John Cleese Silly Walk

Our local coot chicks have now learnt the John Cleese Silly Walk! These 4 photos, all of the same chick, were all taken in the space of less than 30 seconds. They’re so grown up now. We were pleased to see that all six are still alive and well, although counting them gets trickier each time as they now venture all over the lake.

Later we saw a mainly white Mallard in a group of normal-colour ones: a local passer-by told us that it’s the one we saw as a lone yellow duckling at the end of May. We were interested to note that is does have the dark blue patch on its wings – and it proudly lifted one wing up for me to photograph as you can see in the extra.
