Today's hike

We were up at 6am, getting our breakfast and packing up our camp. I confess I did not sleep well, if at all, for several reasons. But, we enjoyed a gorgeous hike, 5 miles of it were on the PCT (Pacific Crest Trail) and that trail is always nice.

This is a view back towards Walupt Lake which was our destination. It looks so far away! It was about 9 miles in total back to the car. The wildflowers were amazing and we counted many different varieties, including the anemone occidentals achene (western pasqueflower). Not sure why I did not take any pictures of that one but we nicknamed it Cousin It (from The Adams Family which you may not be familiar with unless you are American, and of a certain age).

Met one "thru-hiker" on the PCT (a hiker who is hiking the entire trail which is 2600 miles from the Mexican border to the Canadian border). He is really doing well to make it this far north in July (at least 30 miles per day). His trail name was Sagebrush and he was about 65 years old! It is truly amazing what some people can accomplish.
