Up, up and away

LH finally managed to use his 'Gliding Experience' 60th birthday gift more than a year later!  It was a wonderful day up on the Long Mynd, although apparently a South Easterly isn't ideal as it necessarily means a spiral to gain height on a thermal rather than an updraft off the hill which is gained from a Westerly (blipper Harebrain - how do I link this?! - will know all about this!).  Unfortunately, LH's stomach jibbed a bit at this, but he had a couple of good goes before declining a third!

We had a good walk across the top of the hills beforehand with Poppydog.  More cyclists than walkers I feel, although I personally don't see the joy in sweating up inclines in this weather (the de-clines, maybe?!).  We had a fantastic view of a kestrel hovering, then repositioning itself into the headwind to hover again.  It kind of demonstrated that birds are much better at flying than we are!

Into Church Stretton after the gliding and a settling soup for LH.  A quick browse in the local antiques centre (love it - all sorts of amazing clobber) and found a small pew at a very reasonable price; I've been on the lookout for a couple of years for one.

Back home, the completed pergola looks even bigger; a smallish dogwood has been forcibly relocated (we weren't available to consult) and I'm hoping it won't die as it's come with us from Surrey.  I'll throw more buckets of water in its direction tonight.  LH is finishing the painting and I'm on quilt binding duty tonight.

Last episode of The Bridge tonight.  We are confused!  Maybe watching them in a hefty dose is a bit too much for the brain to absorb; I remember when the original series was put out, the two episode mega special Saturday night broadcast left us with lots to ponder and speculate about for a whole week ... but we were always wrong then anyway!!!
