Just fascinating!

I was hoping to find a quick photo in the garden this evening, when I got caught up with a few wasps. That might sound a bit scary, but they weren't a bit interested in me. But I was really interested in them. 

I sat watching them for ages come to drink water from my barrel pond. I've no idea why. Could they be taking the water back to their nest? Could they be using it to help pulp wood to make their nest?

I did manage a few shots but the light wasn't brilliant, and it's not easy putting your head into a small barrel with half a dozen wasps flying in and out....
