Berry interesting!

These are berries on a dogwood tree. I love the pentagon pattern in each segment, and they remind me of an orange stuck with cloves with all the little spiky bits sticking out.

Either I've been really unobservant and haven't noticed these before, or they are particularly heavily laden with berries this year. Here's a look at the whole tree.

Apparently they're edible, but not very good, and can cause rashes on the skin. I'll just admire them from afar.
