Raking Hay

A calm morning, dry in Scalloway but raining and misty in Lerwick.  A breeze picked up, cleared the skies, and been a lovely warm and sunny day, evening too.

Holidays over, and the alarm woke me for work.  I've been working on the museum desk all day, and a steady flow of visitors.  There has been two cruise ships in Lerwick today.  A mad dash after tea, and back to work in the pub too.  An early finish, mam popping over and heading out for walk with Sammy.

A quick run down the road at lunchtime for a walk, but instead I got chatting with Malcolm oot o Toon (Smith).  Crofters haven't had it easy this summer, the lack of rain hasn't produced enough grass, and after cutting this lot, the heavy rain soaked it yesterday.  Here's Malcolm busy raking and turning the hay, and hopefully be dry to start bailing this evening.  Taken at Sternahoull, South Voxter, Cunningsburgh.
