Currie, Balerno and Harlaw ...

Mentioned a few days ago that we'd undertaken a bit of a recce for our next '2nd Saturday Stroll' - all the details now worked out, and so here's a rough outline of our walk for Saturday 11th:

- meeting at The Riccarton Inn (Currie), 198 Lanark Road West, Edinburgh, EH14 5NX - see: http://riccartoninn.co.uk
- Lothian Bus 44 goes from the City Centre all the way out to Currie - click on 44 here: https://www.lothianbuses.com/our-services/lothian-city-buses
- the walk will start and finish at The Riccarton Inn, thus allowing the option of refreshments at the end of the days' proceedings obviously!
- the route will initially commence by crossing Lanark Road West and going past Currie Kirk: http://www.curriekirk.org
- then along good tracks to Malleny Gardens on the edge of Balerno: https://www.nts.org.uk/visit/places/malleny-garden
- ... we may visit the Gardens, so do bring an NTS Membership Card if you have one?
- we'll then go across country (mostly on good paths) to Harlaw Reservoir
- the 'Vanilla Pod' kiosk here, provides the option of stopping for a coffee/sandwich: https://en-gb.facebook.com/vanillapodkiosk
- we'll then visit the Youth Vision 'Threipmuir steading' - some further detail here: http://www.evocredbook.org.uk/organisations/youth-vision/001b00000065vNkAAI
- thereafter, we'll head around Black Springs; back over to Harlaw; and up to a good track which will take us back to Currie and The Riccarton Inn :-)

If you're local and want any further detail, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me directly :-)
