Wise Frog

We'd planned a quiet day, but it turned out rather busier than we expected. We went to visit Pete's Mum in the morning - she'd had another fall last week and cut her head, but she seemed to have recovered well and was quite chatty.

I managed a bit of a rest in the afternoon, seriously needed after the weekend's sleep deprivation, and then it was back to King's Dyke to find some specimens that Look East could use during their live broadcast from the site at 6.30 p.m. This was made rather more of an effort than normal because the temperature was hovering around 30C.

Fortunately, given our late-afternoon trip to King's Dyke, we'd decided to have a take-away meal with Chris and Lizzy - I was very glad that I didn't have to cook! We sat in the garden till late, and turned the moth trap on as twilight crept upon us. Within minutes this frog had arrived, and had a feast catching midges and other small invertebrates that were attracted to the light. A very wise creature, as I suspect prey is fairly scarce in the rest of the garden as a result of the drought.
