The place to be...

Another scorcher! After a morning at the computer, we declared the afternoon a holiday (too hot to work) and went down to our favourite swimming spot on a backwater of the River Nene at Ailsworth. The water was clear and remarkably warm, with hundreds of fish, mostly gudgeon and minnows, though Pete also saw a pike and we thought we spotted some burbot, which are known to be present in this stretch of the river.
