Gromitronic

This morning we got the bus to Bristol and had a nice day finishing off the harbour side trail.  It is a good way to see parts of Bristol you wouldn't normally visit but some sculptures can be harder to find than others!  

Gromitronic was the only one with a long queue as it was animated.  This one was designed by Renishaw and is quiet a feat of engineering - the 7 studs on his 3D aluminium printed collar feature Bristol landmarks, the nose is a plasma ball, the left leg has 611 cogs that took 3 days to screw on and has a 3D printed titanium plate like those used for damaged heads, on his back are printed parts of the circuit board, the 5 buttons control  the pattern, speed and colour of the LED strips, 2 Raspberry Pi computers inside control his eyes, tail and LED lights and finally he has over 5,000 LEDs on his body.
