Back blip

The European Championships started today in Glasgow. Hosted jointly with Berlin, the European Championships is a multi-sport event, bringing together the actual European Championships for a number of different sports, such as cycling, swimming, rowing and gymnastics, in a single (or in this case more than one) location.

Although no sports were competed for today, Wednesday saw the opening festival in George Square, Glasgow. I thought I'd pop into town and catch a bit of the atmosphere, however didn't allow for the fact that the main venue was cordoned off and only those with tickets for the opening concert were allowed into the Square. I had to settle for a few photos of the banners instead, including this one of Bonnie the Seal, the Games mascot.

Undeterred, I will try again. Watch this space!
