Wings of Desire

Went to the Filmhouse to see the Wim Wenders film Wings of Desire. An old favourite and as it was screening as part of the Filmhouse's birthday celebrations the ticket cost the same as when it was first shown back in the 1980s - just 75p with my Filmhouse card - cheaper than the bus ticket to get there. Great to see it on the big screen again. I remember going to see it when it was released, which must have been not too long after I moved to Edinburgh. Interesting to think how the world has moved on, and poignant to watch a film about angels thinking that most of the main actors have since died, even Solveig Dommartin who played the trapeze artist Marion and died far too young aged just 45. And of course Bruno Ganz went on to play a more famous role also set in Berlin in Downfall.
