Stargazing

Arrived home too late to post last night. Been over to Waltham Abbey to help Liz and Al celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. Like London buses, it was 30 years since I went to a 40th (my parents) then two come along in consecutive weeks.

A very good time was had be all, especially the evening where we repaired to a super Chinese restaurant near Stansted for a celebratory meal with Liz and Al, their son, daughter in law and granddaughter.

Afterwards we did a bit of stargazing using Al’s rather impressive telescope. Saw Saturn and its rings, Jupiter and its moons, Mars glowing red, several stars and watched the International Space Station traverse across the sky - first time we’ve seen that happen.

Journey home was fine unlike the journey there where we were mired in traffic at the Dartford Tunnel. Kent is so isolated by the brooding bulk of London and the congested roads that encircle the city.
