Fun and rage

Spent the morning trying to get organised...packing and sorting and writing lists. At last minute realised we were late so had to dash to get to the lunch. Saw quite a few people I knew and very jolly event. Sat next to the conductor for tonight’s opera (slightly embarrassing that we weren’t going to see it but managed to help him plan his other days here so was ok). Had some good conversation with others about dance and dramaturgy, then when many left for a concert we chatted over cheese boards and wine with S&A and some people they knew who had some very funny stories about Sean Connery, golf, flying marquees and other nonsense. We sat in the lounge til late then wandered back home via Summerhall to pick up some local gins to take as presents.
Home, a bit whacked, but later out to see Luisa Omelan (rubbish onstage photo). Very fast paced, mixed funny/sad/angry set about modern politics, the media and her mother’s death last year which was horribly mismanaged by NHS. Searing in places and one woman left in tears.
Home via some takeaway noodles.
