The Boys Are Back In Town

Thin Lizzy

Guess who just got back today
Them wild-eyed boys that had been away
Haven't changed that much to say
But man, I still think them cats are crazy.

We played 'guessing or finding' when we were children, a game that requires only a world atlas. We gave each other assignments to find places as quickly as possible. When we met again, my cousin Bertus just had arrived back from his long-distance bicycle journey to the North Cape. The origin of our common hobby, I think, lies in that afternoon-filling game with the atlas.
We keep contact when we are on the road, as in the past weeks. Bertus was on his way from the south of France to his hometown. He went over the Alps. suddenly I received an app from him that the mountains and the high temperatures got too much for him. It took him nearly a week to get to Aachen, where Bert and I were waiting for him at the cathedral. He looked like a stray cat, dusty and tired.
Tomorrow, after a shower and a long sleep, we will send him en route to the river Maas, which he can follow for at least two days. A nice and flat route.
