View from the very top

A day of being a tourist in my own city today and very enjoyable it was too. We left Bailey to his own devices and walked in, heading first to the castle. It has been hugely developed - and very much for the better - since I last paid to visit with lots of information, displays and different ways of looking at things in the Victorian Prison. The Magna Carta was smaller than expected but its importance was well-explained in the accompanying films and it is definitely given due deference. The most impressive thing for me was the Medieval Wall Walk for the views alone. This shot was taken from the top of the Observatory Tower (seen in the extra). Such an impressive view.

Once that was done we headed to the cathedral and fully appreciated the stained glass thanks to the sunshine. The imp was duly spotted and the organ played for all of the time that we were there. A visit to the ice cream parlour to fortify us for the walk home and in to a rested Bailey who gave us an appropriate greeting.

And this evening have headed out to the Dambusters with the favourite people. A very lovely day all round.
